The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has uncovered and dismantled a suspected illegal arms fabrication factory in Kore Village along Batsari Road in Batagarawa Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out at about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, was executed by the command’s Special Rapid Response Squad following credible intelligence.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Hamisu, the State Commandant, Abbas Dan-ile Moriki, immediately directed the squad to act swiftly and professionally upon receiving the report.
The team subsequently raided the location, dismantled the illegal facility, seized fabricated weapons and production equipment, and arrested four suspects found at the scene.
The suspects — Haruna Lawal (28), Badamasi Kabiru (50), Hamza Lawal (30), and Sagir Abba (25) — were apprehended inside the facility while allegedly engaged in the unlawful operation.
Authorities said the suspects are currently under investigation as efforts intensify to identify other members of the network, as well as potential buyers of the illegal weapons. The command assured that due process will be followed in prosecuting those involved.
Commandant Moriki reassured residents of the state’s continued commitment to tackling illicit arms proliferation, curbing the activities of vandals and economic saboteurs, and strengthening security across Katsina.
He also expressed appreciation to members of the public for their cooperation and urged continued support through the provision of timely and actionable intelligence.
“The Command remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard lives, protect critical national assets and infrastructure, and ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the people of Katsina State and Nigeria at large,” the statement added.
