The Chairman of the Nigeria Premier League, Gbenga Elegbeleye, has reiterated that the league remains open to additional partnerships as it transitions into a phase defined by commercial innovation, expanded content delivery, and broader accessibility. This shift follows the signing of a major N2bn television and data rights package.
On Wednesday, the NPFL board confirmed a five-year data management and commercialisation agreement with Inview Technologies Nigeria Limited and AS Production Hub Limited. The deal will allow NPFL matches to be broadcast on free-to-air television alongside distribution on specified digital platforms. As part of the agreement, the consortium is required to make an upfront payment of N800m as an activation fee.
Elegbeleye stressed that the new partnership represents only one component of a much larger commercial plan designed to strengthen the league’s financial base and visibility nationwide. “This agreement with Inview and AS Production Hub does not shut the door to other broadcasters. The league is being unbundled, which means more broadcasters are welcome to come in. More partners means more revenue, more coverage, and ultimately more development for our clubs and players.”
He added that the long-term objective is to ensure that NPFL action becomes widely accessible across Nigeria. “We want every Nigerian home — in villages, towns, and major cities — to easily watch the NPFL. Our focus now is to create consistent, quality content that will be available on as many platforms as possible,” Elegbeleye said during the signing ceremony in Abuja.
In a separate commercial move, the league also entered a strategic data partnership with Round Up Technology valued at over N600m. Under this agreement, the company will provide technical data services — including player metrics, match statistics, analytics, and general league performance data — supported by an annual payment of N140m.
This renewed commercial drive reflects the NPFL’s ambition to modernise operations, improve club revenues, and elevate overall matchday and broadcast standards.
