The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has recommended sanctions for three match officials — Mohammed B. Tuta (centre referee), Bem Japhet (assistant referee), and Shehu Isah (assistant referee) — over their performance in Sunday’s matchday eight encounter between Kano Pillars and Shooting Stars at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The game, which ended 1-1, was marred by controversy, prompting strong protests from Kano Pillars’ camp over what they described as questionable officiating.
In response, the NPFL announced that the trio have been stepped down from officiating duties pending further review.
The league body also urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to reassess the officials’ suitability for future league matches to ensure the integrity and fairness of NPFL officiating.
