Ongoing review of Electronic Truck Call-Up system to maintain cargo flow and operational efficiency, says authority…..
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reassured port users and industry stakeholders that the ongoing review of the Electronic Truck Call-Up System (ETO) will not disrupt port operations or cargo movement.
The assurance follows the expiration of the Authority’s agreement with Truck Transit Park Ltd (TTP), the firm managing the ETO platform, at the end of February 2026. NPA officials said interim measures are already in place to guarantee business continuity while the review is carried out.
General Manager of Corporate Communications and Strategy, Ikechukwu Onyemakara, emphasized that the expired agreement includes provisions that allow both parties to adopt temporary arrangements, ensuring that port activities continue uninterrupted.
“There are options under the expired agreement to be adopted to ensure that necessary arrangements are in place for business continuity by the parties that would ensure that operations are not disrupted in any way,” Onyemakara said.
The review, he explained, is a routine administrative process aligned with global best practices. The NPA remains committed to sustaining efficiency, stability, and predictability across Nigeria’s ports.
Introduced in 2021 during the height of the Apapa gridlock crisis, the ETO platform was designed to regulate truck movement along the Lagos ports corridor. By enforcing a pre-booking system for trucks, the initiative restored order to the previously chaotic logistics chain and significantly reduced traffic congestion.
Industry observers noted that the system has enhanced cargo evacuation, improved vessel turnaround times, and increased reliability in port operations. The NPA’s reassurance, they said, is expected to strengthen investor confidence as the authority continues broader port modernisation projects aimed at boosting efficiency and global competitiveness.
The Authority reiterated that maintaining seamless port operations is a top priority and assured stakeholders that the review process will not reverse the gains achieved since the launch of the ETO system.
