Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is grieving the loss of his son, a tragedy he announced on Saturday through a post on Instagram.
The 54-year-old shared a photo of his son without disclosing details about the cause of death. In his caption, Chatta turned to prayer, writing in Arabic, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” (To God we belong and to Him we return), before bidding his son farewell.
This heartbreak comes years after Chatta recounted the devastating loss of his first child, a daughter. In a candid revelation earlier this year, he said financial hardship prevented him from accessing quality healthcare for her. The young girl later died and, in a painful memory he shared, was buried in an old Coca-Cola crate because he could not afford a proper coffin.
Fans and colleagues in the film industry have flooded his social media page with messages of condolence, offering prayers and support as he faces another wave of personal grief.
Chatta, known for his roles in Yoruba Nollywood films, has built a decades-long career as one of the industry’s respected actors. But away from the screen, his personal struggles continue to reveal the human side of a man who has entertained millions.
