Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has regained her freedom after spending two days in police custody. She was released on Monday, following her arrest on Saturday in connection with allegations involving Chris Okafor, founder of Grace Nation Ministry.
Ogala confirmed her release in an Instagram post, expressing gratitude to human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, as well as social media personality VeryDarkMan, for their intervention. “Thank you, Sowore. Thanks so much to my ratel king,” she wrote.
The actress’ detention sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many Nigerians and online personalities calling for her immediate release.
Her arrest comes after weeks of public controversy surrounding Okafor. Ogala had claimed she was in a romantic relationship with the cleric since 2017 and alleged that she left her previous marriage at his insistence. She accused Okafor of betrayal after years of intimacy and assurances of marriage and demanded either marriage or financial compensation in the form of a house.
The dispute escalated further when images of Okafor’s white wedding and traditional marriage ceremonies surfaced online last Wednesday. The situation intensified after Ogala posted, then deleted, a photo allegedly showing Okafor in a private bedroom setting.
Despite the drama, Ogala is now free, though the public and media continue to follow the story closely.
