Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has declared that criminals will have no safe haven in the state under his watch.
Speaking in Benin City on Wednesday during the commissioning of 300 motorbikes donated to security agencies, the governor said the initiative was part of his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and restoring peace across the state.
“These bikes will be deployed across the senatorial districts to enable security operatives access difficult terrains, especially forest areas where criminals often hide,” Okpebholo said.
The event was attended by the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, and the Commander of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Ebenezer Oduyebo.
Describing the gesture as a “new dawn” in Edo’s security drive, Commissioner Agbonika said the motorbikes would boost efforts in fighting crimes such as kidnapping and other forest-based criminal activities.
“With these motorbikes, we can now penetrate deep into the forests where criminals operate. The days of impunity are over,” he said, urging residents to support security agencies with credible information to aid crime prevention and investigation.
