The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has declared the suspension of its Kano State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, as invalid, describing the action as “null and void” and lacking any legal effect.
Dungurawa was reportedly suspended on Monday by executive members of the NNPP in Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, who accused him of fostering division and promoting internal discord within the party. Following this, the Kano State executive committee appointed Abdullahi Abiya as acting chairman on Tuesday.
In an official statement, NNPP spokesperson Ladipo Johnson faulted the suspension, calling it “misplaced, undemocratic, and entirely without effect.” Johnson said the move violated party discipline and amounted to gross anti-party conduct, contravening the provisions of the NNPP constitution.
Johnson further praised Dungurawa, describing him as a dedicated, diligent, and responsible leader whose performance has been instrumental in advancing the growth and influence of the NNPP in Kano State.
The party reiterated its commitment to upholding democratic principles and internal unity, emphasizing that any attempt to undermine its leadership structures would not be tolerated.
