Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nnamdi Collins has officially committed his international future to Germany, ending any hopes of representing the Super Eagles.
The 21-year-old made his senior debut for Germany in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in Bratislava on Thursday, thereby becoming cap-tied under FIFA regulations.
Born in Germany to a Nigerian father, Collins had been courted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but his competitive appearance for Germany now seals his allegiance to the former world champions.
FIFA rules only permit nationality switches if players have featured in three or fewer senior matches before turning 21. With Collins celebrating his 21st birthday in January 2025, Nigeria’s window of opportunity has officially closed.
