Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has cautioned members of the public against secretly recording her and her partner during outings, describing the behaviour as intrusive and disrespectful.
In a video shared on Instagram, the actress narrated a recent experience at a restaurant where a woman allegedly filmed her and her partner without their consent. According to her, a waitress alerted her to the situation.
Blessing said she approached the woman politely but made it clear that she found the act unacceptable. She emphasised that while she understands she is a public figure, basic courtesy requires asking for permission before taking photos or videos.
The actress stated that she has no issue with fans requesting pictures or recordings openly. However, she drew a firm line against covert filming, particularly because her partner prefers to keep a low profile.
She reiterated that she is intentionally keeping her relationship off social media and wants to safeguard her partner’s privacy.
Issuing a strong warning, Blessing said she would not hesitate to damage any phone used to secretly record her in the future. She maintained that her stance is not rooted in arrogance but in a desire to enjoy her relationship away from public scrutiny.
The actress added that if she eventually chooses to introduce her partner online, it will be on her own terms.
