Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has announced her decision to leave her Lekki residence after surviving a second ceiling collapse in just two months.
The actress shared a video of the wreckage on her Instagram page, expressing gratitude for her safety while condemning what she described as “alarming substandard construction practices” in Lekki.
According to her, developers in the highbrow Lagos area charge exorbitant prices for poorly built properties, putting residents at risk.
“I built my own house in 2021, and nothing has ever shifted. The way these Lekki developers build substandard houses and sell them at ridiculous prices is alarming,” she lamented.
Blessing hinted at returning to her Mainland home, adding humor to her frustration.
“Make me sef dey go back my bush. Lekki, e se o,” she wrote, implying that safety and durability matter more than location prestige.
Her experience follows a series of similar incidents among Nigerian celebrities. In June, actress Bolaji Ogunmola and BBNaija’s Chichi also narrowly escaped harm after their POP ceilings collapsed. Skitmaker Zics Aloma recently recounted a similar experience, crediting divine protection for his safety.
Blessing’s ordeal has reignited public conversations about building safety and regulation in Lagos, with many urging authorities to enforce stricter construction standards in the state’s upscale neighborhoods.
