Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has issued a public apology to Big Brother Naija Season 10 winner Imisi following a question she asked at the reality star’s birthday party that sparked widespread criticism online.
Imisi, who turned 24 on Tuesday, hosted a lavish celebration attended by several celebrities, including Eddie Watson, Bisola Aiyeola, Kiekie, Mercy Eke, Brodashaggi, BBNaija Kola, Mide, Mitchy, Isabella, Kayvee, and others. Nkechi Blessing was also among the guests.
During a question-and-answer segment at the event, Nkechi Blessing asked Imisi whether she would consider forgiving and reconciling with her mother, referring to the reality star’s reported strained relationship with her birth mother.
The question quickly drew backlash on social media, with many users describing it as insensitive and inappropriate, particularly given the personal nature of the issue and the public setting in which it was raised.
In response, Nkechi Blessing released a video message expressing regret over the incident. She apologised to Imisi and to anyone who felt offended by her remarks, stressing that she had no intention of causing harm or provoking controversy.
“I sincerely want to apologise to anybody who got offended by the question I asked Imisi a couple of hours ago at her party,” she said. “If you find my question offensive, I am sorry. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me.”
The actress also appealed to critics to ease the backlash, stating that she was not seeking attention or attempting to generate online engagement through the question.
The controversy is linked to earlier claims made by Imisi’s mother, who had publicly alleged that her daughter abandoned her after winning the Big Brother Naija reality show. Imisi has since addressed the issue, maintaining that she remains committed to her family and continues to support her mother.
The apology appears aimed at calming the debate, as conversations continue online about boundaries, sensitivity, and personal matters in public spaces.
