Award-winning Nigerian singer Niniola Apata has refuted claims that she is secretly married, putting to rest weeks of online speculation.
The “Maradona” hitmaker addressed the rumours during an interview with Yanga FM, Lagos, following claims that her low media presence in recent months was due to marriage.
Niniola, 38, firmly stated that she is not married, dismissing talk that she deliberately kept her marital status private to protect her career or bookings.
“I don’t care whatever anyone does or says regarding my personal life,” she said. “After all, I’m not a 12-year-old. I’m old enough to say whatever it is I want to say with my full chest. I’m not married.”
The Afro-house artist also spoke about her long-anticipated collaboration with her younger sister, singer Teni, noting that it will happen only when the timing feels right.
According to Niniola, music is business, and professional decisions must take precedence over family ties.
“It has to happen at the right time and under the right circumstances. There’s no family in business,” she added.
Niniola, known for her energetic sound and bold persona, continues to maintain a strong presence in the Nigerian music scene despite choosing a more private lifestyle in recent years.
