Commission urges citizens to utilise designated ward centres, online platforms and NIN app for seamless registration…..
The National Identity Management Commission has confirmed that its Ward-Level Enrolment Drive, which officially began on Monday, February 16, 2026, is gaining momentum across the country.
The decentralised initiative enables citizens and legal residents to register for their National Identification Number at designated enrolment centres located within wards nationwide, in a move aimed at deepening identity coverage and improving access.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the commission reiterated that the NIN remains a critical requirement for accessing a wide range of government services in Nigeria, urging individuals who are yet to enrol to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.
Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, advised members of the public to visit the commission’s official website to locate the nearest ward enrolment centre. He also called on applicants to cooperate fully with registration officials, provide accurate personal information, and rely solely on NIMC’s verified communication channels, including its official social media accounts, for updates.
For those seeking to begin the process online, the commission said pre-enrolment services are available at penrol.nimc.gov.ng, while requests for data corrections or modifications can be completed through selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.
In addition, the NINAUTH mobile application, accessible on both iOS and Android platforms, offers users access to digital identity authentication services.
NIMC reaffirmed its commitment to broadening inclusive identity coverage nationwide, encouraging citizens and residents alike to participate in the ward-level enrolment drive as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national identity system.
