Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate production rose to 1.63 million barrels per day (bpd) in August 2025, showing a 5.47% year-on-year increase, according to the latest figures released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
The commission disclosed this in a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, citing data from its August 2025 Crude Oil and Condensate Production Report.
“This reflects a steady recovery and improved operational performance across the industry,” the regulator stated.
The total output comprises 1.43 million bpd of crude oil, up from 1.36 million bpd in August 2024, and 197,229 bpd of condensates, which fell slightly from 220,435 bpd recorded during the same period last year.
According to the NUPRC, the August production figure represents 96 percent of Nigeria’s OPEC production quota, set at 1.5 million bpd. The performance, the agency noted, highlights the country’s growing ability to meet its production commitments under the global oil pact.
While year-on-year figures improved, the commission acknowledged a month-on-month decline in combined output.
“There was a 4.7% drop in total crude and condensate production compared to July 2025,” the NUPRC said.
Crude oil alone saw a 4.8% drop from the 1.5 million bpd recorded in July. The decline was attributed to unscheduled maintenance at a key facility that impacted operations briefly during the month.
Daily production for August ranged between 1.59 million bpd (lowest) and 1.85 million bpd (peak).
Terminal-specific data shows the Forcados terminal led production in August with a combined output of 8.99 million barrels comprising 8.08 million barrels of crude oil and 915,200 barrels of condensate.
It was followed by the Bonny terminal, which produced 6.26 million barrels, including 5.8 million barrels of crude and 418,270 barrels of condensate.
Other significant contributors included:
- Qua Iboe Terminal: 4.99 million barrels (4.94m crude, 50.5k condensate)
- Escravos Terminal: 4.18 million barrels (4.08m crude, 107k condensate)
