

The Federal Government of Nigeria has publicly dismissed international claims, including from the US comedian Bill Maher, that terrorists in the country are systematically targeting Christians for genocide.
The government described the claims as “false, baseless, and divisive,” arguing that extremist groups target all who reject their ideology, regardless of faith.
The Minister of Information revealed new counter-terrorism statistics, including the killing of 13,543 terrorists and criminals and the rescue of nearly 10,000 hostages between May 2023 and February 2025.

In Edo State, the PDP Executive Committee has publicly challenged Governor Monday Okpebholo to clarify his recent announcement of a $250 million investment agreement signed with the European African Chamber of Commerce during a summit in Glasgow, Scotland, describing the claim as an “embarrassment” to the people of Edo.
In Benin, activist Precious Oruche, also known as Mama Pee as a figure in the Obidient movement, was briefly detained after a viral confrontation with the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja.
The Abure-led faction has since demanded Oruche’s arrest, escalating political infighting.
Meanwhile, the factional Labour Party National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, issued a statement demanding Mama Pee’s arrest and for Peter Obi to be placed on a national security watch list.
Arabambi also suggested that Mama Pee’s husband should seek a refund of her bride price due to what he described as her “loose morals” and “enslaved life” as a political instrument.
In Ebonyi State, the Minister of Works and former Governor Dave Umahi declared that the state will fully support President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, claiming there is not a single “Obidient” supporter in Ebonyi, despite Peter Obi winning there in 2023.
