In the aftermath of a tragic tanker explosion in Katcha, Niger State, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed sadness and extended sympathies to the victims’ families.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Forum commiserated with the people and government of Niger State, particularly the families of the victims and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
The Forum praised emergency responders for their humanitarian assistance and highlighted the disaster as a reminder of the importance of safety, particularly in the storage and transportation of combustible materials.
“This disaster again calls attention to safety issues in every aspect of our life. This is particularly important in how combustible items are stored and transported at every stage,” the Forum stated.
It also called for stricter safety measures and urged both government and private stakeholders to take proactive steps to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
