The Federal Government has expressed deep concern over the abduction of female students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, pledging urgent action to secure their release.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, emphasised that safeguarding every Nigerian, particularly schoolchildren, is a core responsibility of the State. He condemned the attack on the students and the killing of school officials carrying out their duties.
Security and intelligence agencies have been directed to locate and safely return the abducted students while ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice. The government stressed that it will not relent until the girls are rescued.
Efforts to strengthen internal security remain a top priority, with the Federal Government recalibrating military, policing, and intelligence capabilities to prevent attacks and respond rapidly to threats.
Nigeria is also intensifying regional cooperation through ECOWAS, the African Union, and the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to secure borders and dismantle criminal and terrorist networks. The public has been urged to remain calm and confident in the government’s response.
