Nigerian boxing standout Elizabeth Oshoba has reached a new career milestone by securing the fourth spot in the global super lightweight rankings as the 2026 sporting calendar begins. According to the latest data from BoxRec, the 26-year-old climbed one position this week, solidifying her status as one of the most formidable athletes in her division.
The WBC silver featherweight champion currently trails only Alycia Baumgardner of the United States, Belgian veteran Delfine Persoon, and New Zealand’s Mea Motu in the updated world standings.
“I’m grateful to God for this achievement, and I’m not stopping here,” Oshoba told newsmen following the announcement. “My eyes are set on the top three and ultimately the number one spot. With hard work and dedication, I know it’s possible.”
Oshoba remains undefeated in her professional career, boasting a flawless record of nine victories with five coming by way of knockout. The 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist expressed immense confidence in her trajectory and her ability to challenge the elite boxers positioned above her.
“Every fight is a step closer to my goal. I’m ready to face anyone in the top three and prove that I belong at the very top of this division,” she added.
This latest ascent follows a highly successful 2025 season where Oshoba successfully defended her unbeaten status and expanded her international reputation. She first made global headlines in January 2024 by becoming the first Nigerian woman to secure a world boxing title. During that historic bout at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena, she delivered a tenth-round knockout to Italy’s Michela Braga to claim the WBC silver featherweight crown.
In the current world rankings, Oshoba has successfully overtaken Spanish contender Jennifer Miranda. The division continues to feature high-level competition, with the top-ranked Alycia Baumgardner holding a 17-1 record. Persoon, the 40-year-old Belgian icon, follows with a vast 50-3 record, while Australia’s Mea Motu maintains the third spot with 23 wins and a single loss. In addition to her featherweight success, Oshoba still holds the IBO female super-featherweight title, which she earned through a unanimous decision victory over Martina Righi in late 2023.
