Nigerian artists collectively earned over ₦60 billion on Spotify in 2025, according to the platform’s latest annual report released on Monday.
The report highlights a revenue surge of more than 140 per cent over the past two years, underscoring the growing global influence of Nigerian music.
Notably, independent artists and labels accounted for approximately 58 per cent of all royalties generated by Nigerian musicians on the platform in 2025, reflecting a thriving independent music scene.
In total, Nigerian artists racked up 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours during the year, indicating strong engagement from both local and international audiences.
The report also noted significant growth in streams by Nigerian female artists, which increased by 55 per cent compared to previous years.
Globally, Nigerian music reached listeners through nearly 320 million user-created playlists, while more than 12 million playlists featuring local artists were created within Nigeria itself. In total, Spotify users curated over 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian musicians in 2025 alone.
The statistics reinforce Nigeria’s position as a major hub for music consumption worldwide and highlight the increasing impact of independent and female artists in shaping the country’s music industry.
