The Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) has graduated 589 soldiers after completing a demanding four-week pre-deployment training program at the Kontagora Military Cantonment Parade Ground.
The troops, who arrived at the centre on January 12, 2026, underwent intensive mission-specific training in Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency, preparing them for deployment to the Joint Task Force (Northeast) Operation Hadin Kai Theatre.
Commander of NATRAC, Major General A. Haruna, described the graduates as the first group under the Nigerian Army Rotation Plan 2026. Speaking at the ceremony, he highlighted the realistic, hands-on nature of the training, designed to equip soldiers with the skills needed to tackle modern security challenges.
“The program focused on essential operational skills including close-quarter marksmanship, obstacle navigation, convoy drills, house clearance, patrol techniques, tactical medical evacuation, and counter-IED operations. “It was structured to test endurance, resilience, and combat readiness day and night”, Haruna explained.
The training reflects the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General W. Shaibu, aimed at transforming the Nigerian Army into a professional, adaptable, and combat-ready force capable of operating effectively within a joint and multi-agency environment.
Haruna expressed confidence in the soldiers’ preparedness and urged them to apply the lessons learned, maintain high standards, and demonstrate courage in the field. He also commended the Chief of Army Staff for his guidance and praised the instructors for their dedication throughout the training.
