As part of its ongoing transformation, the Nigerian Army has inaugurated the Directorate of Inspections and Compliance (DI&C) Project Inspection Workshop 2026 to strengthen transparency, performance, and accountability.
Participants at the workshop include officers from formations and units around Abuja, senior officers, and technical experts in engineering, technology, and compliance, reflecting the Army’s commitment to modernising its operational and administrative processes.
The four-day workshop, hosted at the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) in Asokoro, Abuja, is themed “Leveraging Technology: Panacea for Enhanced Inspection and Compliance.” According to Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the workshop is designed to improve efficiency in project execution through technology-enabled inspection processes.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, represented by the Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General Adekunle Adeyinka, described the initiative as crucial to the Army’s ongoing transformation. He noted that traditional manual inspection methods are no longer sufficient in today’s complex operational environment, stressing the need for integrated, technology-driven solutions.
Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasised that inspections are not meant to assign blame but to enhance performance, standardise procedures, and support institutional learning. He highlighted that effective inspections ensure policies and plans are translated into measurable outcomes while improving operational readiness and resource utilisation.
Speaking further, Director of DI&C, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, described the workshop as a strategic response to contemporary challenges, aligning inspection and compliance functions with the COAS’s transformation agenda.
