Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to combating terrorism, assuring that all necessary resources are in place to maintain operational momentum nationwide.
Speaking in a Christmas goodwill message to officers and staff at NAF Base Maiduguri, Aneke said substantial arms, ammunition, aviation spares, and other logistics have been deployed across all operational theatres. Preparations are also underway for the arrival of fighter jets, UAVs, and combat helicopters early next year to extend operational reach and precision.
The CAS highlighted efforts to integrate technology, improve logistics, enhance training, and support personnel welfare, including welfare flights to ease the travel burden on officers, airmen, and their families.
Speaking further, Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno, who was duly represented, praised the NAF for remaining at the forefront of counter-terrorism operations, providing intelligence, air interdiction, and close air support in challenging environments. He noted the evolving hybrid threat posed by terrorists, exploiting technology and cross-border networks.
On his part, Air Vice Marshal Patrick Obeya, Air Officer Commanding Tactical Airlift Command, added that coordinated air operations have delivered decisive effects across the Sambisa Forest, Mandara Mountains, and Lake Chad region, denying terrorists freedom of movement and restoring hope to communities.
The NAF leadership reaffirmed its dedication to protecting lives, sustaining operational tempo, and supporting communities as the fight against insurgency continues.
