Nigeria has formally presented Letters of Credence to three newly appointed ambassadors-designate.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, presented the documents on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, formally authorising the envoys to represent Nigeria in their respective foreign postings.
The recipients are Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu (United Kingdom), Ambassador Ayodele Oke (France), and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who is the Permanent Representative-designate to the United Nations in New York.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu said she was honoured to formally accredit the envoys, noting that the presentation marks their official recognition as Nigeria’s representatives abroad. She explained that Letters of Credence are official diplomatic documents issued by a Head of State to introduce and empower ambassadors to act on behalf of their country in host nations.
She further described the letters as instruments that request receiving states to accord trust and full recognition to the appointed diplomats, enabling them to carry out their duties and advance Nigeria’s interests internationally.
The minister congratulated the envoys and wished them success in their new assignments.
The presentation follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of 65 ambassadorial and high commissioner appointments. According to the Presidency, the list includes 31 non-career and 34 career diplomats who were confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
