Nigeria’s Falconets continued their flawless start at the 2025 WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup with a commanding 3-0 victory over Benin Republic at Stade Adjanhou on Sunday.
Forward Ramotalahi Kareem once again starred for the defending champions, scoring twice to inspire another dominant display.
The Falconets, who opened their title defence with a 3-1 victory over Ghana, quickly asserted control as Kareem opened the scoring in the 15th minute following a well-worked team move. Despite Benin’s Amazones showing determination in front of their home crowd, Nigeria’s fluid attacking play proved overwhelming.
Kareem doubled the lead in the 59th minute, calmly slotting past the Beninese goalkeeper to put the result beyond doubt. Substitute Precious Oscar added the final flourish deep into stoppage time, finishing off a flowing counter-attack to seal a comprehensive 3-0 triumph for the Falconets.
For her brace and tireless display, Kareem was named Player of the Match. The victory keeps Nigeria atop the three-team tournament and firmly on course for a top-place finish as they pursue back-to-back regional titles.
With a combination of defensive solidity and clinical finishing, the Falconets have established themselves as early favourites to retain the WAFU B crown. The result follows their opening-day win over Ghana, where goals from Janet Akeremkowei and Favour Nkwocha secured a 3-1 victory over the Black Princesses.
Having scored six goals in two matches, the Falconets have once again demonstrated their dominance in West African women’s football ahead of rematches against Ghana and Benin on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
