The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has appointed former international boxer and Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Adura Olaleyin, as its new Technical Director.
Olaleyin, who represented Nigeria at several global tournaments, brings extensive experience from both competing and coaching. He led the national boxing team to an impressive performance at the 2024 African Games, and also guided Nigeria’s boxing contingent to the Paris 2024 Olympics, where he earned praise for his tactical insight and leadership.
Between 2021 and 2025, he served as the South-West representative on the NBF board, acquiring valuable administrative experience that complements his technical background.
According to the federation, Olaleyin’s appointment is part of efforts to reposition Nigerian boxing for long-term international success.
“The Nigeria Boxing Federation trusts that Olaleyin’s wealth of experience and dedication to the advancement of Olympic-style boxing will significantly contribute to the sport’s development,”
the NBF said in a statement signed by its Director of Communications, Mathew Okugbe.
As Technical Director, Olaleyin will work under the federation’s Technical Committee, alongside members of the elected board.
NBF President, Wale Edun, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to reforming the sport through strategic policies and stronger institutional frameworks.
He called on stakeholders nationwide to support the federation’s vision, stressing that collaboration and transparency would be essential to restoring Nigeria’s prominence in global boxing.
