The Niger State Sports Commission has presented a cash reward of ₦1.4 million to Niger Tornadoes following their impressive Matchday 19 win against Barau FC. The “Ikon Allah Boys” secured the maximum three points at the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna last Sunday, defeating the “Maliya Boys” with a clinical 2-0 performance.
This financial incentive aims to celebrate the team’s successful conclusion to the first half of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu, the Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, officially handed over the funds to the players and technical staff during a celebratory ceremony. He highlighted the significance of the victory, noting that the team’s performance resonated deeply with the local community. The chairman also reiterated the state government’s commitment to providing the necessary resources to ensure the club remains competitive in the top flight.
“The victory against Barau FC was special and outstanding,” The Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu stated during the cash presentation. “The match lived up to the pre-game hype, and you have put smiles on the faces of football-loving Nigerlites. We are proud of you.”
Musa further encouraged the squad to maintain their current momentum as they prepare for the second stanza of the campaign. Niger Tornadoes currently occupy fifth place in the NPFL standings, having amassed 29 points from 19 fixtures. The administration’s proactive support reflects a broader strategy to utilize sports as a tool for social cohesion and state pride. With the mid-season break approaching, the “Ikon Allah Boys” intend to strengthen their roster to challenge for a continental qualification spot in the new year.
