The Niger State Government has announced a N5 billion seed fund for the reactivation of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) mini campus at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, Minna.
Governor Mohammed Bago made the pledge when he received the management of NCAT, Zaria, during their visit to the airport. He said the fund will cover the construction of classrooms and hostels to facilitate the reopening of the institution’s mini campus in the state.
Governor Bago said his administration is committed to making the Minna airport a hub for aviation and agriculture, noting that the project would also reduce costs associated with sending students abroad for aviation training.
“The reactivation of the mini campus will provide significant impact in terms of personnel training and expertise in agro-aviation business,” the governor said.
The state government and NCAT have had a long-standing partnership, and the governor said reviving the campus would further strengthen the collaboration.
During the visit, the NCAT delegation toured the aviation fuel depot and an existing housing unit within the airport premises.
Bago disclosed that the current housing unit would be demolished to make way for a modern facility that will help address housing deficits in the state.
