International music star Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty professionally known as Nicki Minaj has voiced gratitude after the United States officially recognised the escalating persecution of Christians in Nigeria. Speaking publicly, the rapper emphasised the importance of religious freedom and respect for diverse beliefs.
Minaj said, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Her comments followed a statement from US President Donald Trump, who declared Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” due to the mass killings of Christians by radical Islamist groups.
Trump highlighted that thousands of Christians have been killed in Nigeria, urging US lawmakers to investigate and take action to protect the country’s Christian population.
Minaj’s remarks underscore growing global attention on religious persecution and the role of international advocacy in defending human rights. She urged citizens worldwide to recognise atrocities, support victims, and uphold the principles of freedom of faith.
