High-profile football stakeholders are set to attend the opening fixture of the 2025–26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, marking a grand kickoff for the country’s second-tier competition. The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, alongside the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, will serve as special guests for the curtain-raiser.
The season will officially begin with a Conference C clash between FC Basira and Mighty Jets at the Lafia City Stadium, where fans are expected to witness an exciting start to the league’s new campaign. According to the NNL organisers, only one match will be played on Saturday as the official opener, while fixtures involving other conferences will resume the following week.
Warri Wolves, who clinched the 2024–25 NNL championship last season, remain the defending champions heading into the new term. The 2025–26 season promises heightened competition, increased visibility, and renewed enthusiasm across Nigeria’s football landscape.
