Enugu State has unveiled a groundbreaking Digital Survey Management System aimed at ending land grabbing, fraudulent transactions, and illegal allocations across the state. The initiative, announced by the Enugu State Surveyor General, Chime Justus, in collaboration with the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), is part of Governor Peter Mbah’s ambitious land reform agenda.
The system ensures all survey data, coordinates, and professional signatures are stored in a secure, tamper-proof digital database, promoting transparency, traceability, and protection of landowners’ rights.
At a recent workshop for surveyors, developers, and landowners, Justus hailed the system as a historic reform that safeguards professional integrity, accelerates approvals, and prevents survey duplication. NIS Chairman, Emmanuel Nnamani, added that the platform eliminates fake cadastral plans and multiple claims on a single plot, significantly improving survey accuracy.
Enugu Commissioner for Lands, Chimaobi Okorie, highlighted that the platform allows investors and landowners to view land coordinates directly on their devices, providing certainty in transactions and reducing boundary disputes.
Complemented by modern survey equipment and CORS stations, the digital system is designed to boost investor confidence, secure property ownership, and strengthen land governance across Enugu State.
