Following a voluntary recall of some Nestlé infant formula batches in foreign markets, Nestlé Nigeria has clarified that none of its locally sold products are affected. The company said the recall involved only specific batches distributed outside Nigeria and does not concern products manufactured or sold within the country.
The clarification was issued on Friday in Lagos by Nestlé Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Toju Egbebi.
“We want to reassure consumers that all SMA and NAN product ranges sold by Nestlé Nigeria are safe for consumption”, Egbebi stated.
She listed the locally available products as SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, SMA Gold 3, NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2, and NAN Optipro 3.
Egbebi emphasized that all Nestlé infant formula products in Nigeria are officially registered with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and comply with both local and international food safety and quality standards.
“The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, remain our top priorities”, she added. “The products referenced in online reports or international recalls are not supplied to the Nigerian market”, Egbebi noted, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency and consumer confidence.
She also urged consumers to rely on verified information from Nestlé Nigeria or regulatory authorities whenever they have concerns about product safety.
