The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially announced the opening of its online student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session, enabling eligible students across the country to apply for financial support to pursue their education.
In a statement shared on its official X handle on Tuesday and titled “NELFUND Announces Opening of Student Loan Application Portal for 2025/2026 Academic Session,” the agency confirmed that the application window will run from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Fund expressed appreciation to tertiary institutions for their cooperation and urged continued collaboration to ensure a seamless, transparent, and inclusive loan process for all qualified applicants.
As part of the process, NELFUND directed all accredited tertiary institutions to update and upload verified records of both newly admitted and returning students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, noting that this verification step is mandatory for students to access the loan scheme.
The agency further clarified that fresh students can apply using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in place of a Matriculation Number. Institutions were also encouraged to show flexibility with registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.
For schools that have not yet commenced their 2025/2026 academic calendar, NELFUND advised them to formally communicate their approved schedules to enable proper planning and flexibility in loan processing.
“NELFUND appeals to all institutions to consider temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are still being processed, ensuring that no student is denied access to education due to financial hardship,” the statement read.
For technical support and inquiries, both students and institutions were encouraged to contact NELFUND through its official communication channels or verified social media accounts on X and Instagram (@NELFUND), and via Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) on Facebook and LinkedIn.
