Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, has publicly denied claims that he is communicating with Regina or seeking her return to his home, stressing that his only insistence is that she undergo therapy. The lawmaker posted a detailed statement on Instagram on Tuesday, including screenshots of a WhatsApp message he described as his last communication with her.
In the Instagram post, Nwoko explained what happened, when, and how, stating that Regina has been “completely under the influence of hard drugs,” leading to a series of violent and irrational incidents. He said he released the WhatsApp message from October 17 to clarify the situation and show the ultimatum he delivered regarding her rehabilitation.
According to the statement, “Senator Ned Nwoko Is Not Chatting With Regina And Does Not Want Her Back In The House. All he is insisting on is that she should be encouraged to go to Therapy.”
The post adds that Regina’s allegations of drugs and sexual misconduct “are a figment of her wild imagination and can never be substantiated.”
The statement further claims that Regina became violent after receiving the WhatsApp ultimatum. Nwoko is quoted as saying: “She was not violent previously, she began to lie about everything. She became dirty. Her environment became dirty. He had to encourage her to shower. He had to encourage her to go to sleep in her room.”
He also alleged that Regina’s behaviour worsened over the past eight months and that he tolerated the presence of Phyna and her friends only in an attempt to manage Regina’s situation. He recounted an incident where he woke up around 5 a.m. and found Regina filming him in the bathroom, saying, “That is how irrational she had become in those moments. If anyone around her claims to love her and care for the kids, they should take her to a respected rehab center and all this nonsense will stop.”
Nwoko then released the full WhatsApp Message of 17th October, saying it represented his last documented communication with Regina. The message read in part:
“I won’t accept your friends coming here at odd hours again… You have shown so much disrespect in the past few days… I don’t know who is giving you drugs amongst them and this lifestyle is totally unacceptable… It is either you continue with your therapy or you check into the rehab in Asokoro… I won’t fund your lifestyle again until you are fully rehabilitated.”
The senator’s communication team noted that Regina had been progressing in rehabilitation until her birthday celebration, during which she allegedly spent four days with friends at a hotel in Wuse 2, involving “drugs and violence and fights with police and other guests.”
“For now, the focus is for all of us to take collective responsibility to ensure she goes in for therapy/rehabilitation,” the statement concluded. “At least let her stay alive for the sake of our two lovely boys. When clarity returns, truth will speak for itself.”
