The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the release of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal results, showcasing significant improvement in performance and integrity.
According to the Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, who made the announcement at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, a total of 1,367,210 candidates registered, with 1,358,339 sitting for the examination.
Of these, 818,492 candidates (60.26%) obtained five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, while 1,144,496 (84.26%) secured five credits and above regardless of the two core subjects.
Describing the outcome as a milestone, Wushishi said the results reflected transparency, credibility, and NECO’s dedication to raising educational standards.
A total of 1,622 candidates with special needs — including those with hearing and visual impairments, albinism, autism, and low vision — also participated in the exams.
On examination malpractice, the registrar revealed a 61.58% decline, with 3,878 cases recorded in 2025 compared to 10,094 in 2024.
Despite this progress, 38 schools across 13 states were implicated in mass cheating and will face sanctions, while nine supervisors from Rivers, Niger, FCT, Kano, and Osun states will be blacklisted for aiding malpractice.
In Adamawa State’s Lamorde Local Government Area, results from eight schools were withheld following disruptions caused by communal clashes.
Wushishi expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Education for their support of NECO’s reforms, urging higher institutions to await the release of results from all examination bodies before concluding admissions.
Candidates can now check their results via the Council’s official website: www.neco.gov.ng, using their registration numbers.
