Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has expressed disappointment following Besiktas’ 3-2 home defeat to Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce on Sunday.
Besiktas appeared in control after goals from El Bilal Touré and Emirhan Topcu put them 2-0 ahead, but a red card to Orkun Kökçü turned the tide in Fenerbahce’s favour, allowing the visitors to mount a remarkable comeback.
Speaking after the match, Ndidi admitted that the sending-off played a major role in the team’s collapse but urged his teammates to remain focused and united.
“The match was going well for us. We even took a 2-0 lead. When we conceded a goal after the red card, the opponent gained momentum,” Ndidi told beIN Sports.
“We wanted to stay in the match. We had a fighting spirit. We need to build on that a little more. We know we have quality. We must all stay united.”
The Nigerian international, who joined Besiktas in the summer, has been instrumental in midfield since his arrival, helping to stabilise the team’s structure in the Turkish Super Lig.
