Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has stressed the importance of winning the Super Eagles’ final two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic, describing the fixtures as “crucial” for Nigeria’s qualification hopes.
The Super Eagles currently occupy third place in Group C with 11 points from eight matches, sitting three points behind joint leaders Benin Republic and South Africa.
To book their ticket to the World Cup, Eric Chelle’s men must claim victory in both remaining fixtures and hope results elsewhere go their way.
Speaking to the Super Eagles media team, Ndidi emphasized the team’s focus and determination ahead of the must-win encounters.
“We know where we are at the moment,” he said.
“These two games are very crucial. First of all, we focus on the Lesotho one and then we look towards the Benin one, but the most important now is the Lesotho one.”
The Super Eagles will first take on Lesotho on Friday, before facing Benin Republic on Tuesday in what could be decisive matches for Nigeria’s World Cup qualification hopes.
