Nigerian gospel minister and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has narrated an encounter with a man he described as a traditional spiritualist who allegedly attempted to place him under a spell.
Bassey shared the account during a worship session, stating that the incident occurred along an express road. According to him, it was the second time the same individual had approached him under similar circumstances.
The pastor said the man knocked on his car window and began what he described as casting an enchantment, allegedly trying to influence him to “do something.”
“I just stood there and laughed,” Bassey recounted, explaining that he responded by declaring Bible verses instead of reacting in fear.
He quoted scriptures he believes affirm divine protection, including, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.” He also referenced Numbers 23:23, which states that there is no enchantment against Jacob nor divination against Israel.
According to Bassey, the man remained nearby as though waiting for the supposed spell to take effect. The cleric said he eventually stepped out of his vehicle and ordered the individual to leave immediately.
He added that, in hindsight, he regretted not detaining the man until law enforcement officers arrived.
While narrating the experience, Bassey stressed that his intention was not to glorify evil but to underscore what he described as the reality of spiritual wickedness and the power of faith.
“I’m not saying this to boast,” he said, “but while we do not glorify the devil, there is wickedness in the world.”
The account has since drawn attention online, with followers reacting to the pastor’s testimony and his emphasis on spiritual vigilance.
