

The Nigerian Senate has rejected Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s request to resume her legislative duties, citing a six-month suspension that will remain until a Court of Appeal ruling.
The Senate spokesman stated that their decision is based on Standing Order 40 Clause (1), which prevents them from entertaining matters currently in court.
This has led to public debate, with some questioning the fairness and legality of the decision.
In other news, the Lagos State government responded to protests over the demolition of buildings in Oworonshoki, stating that residents had been given multiple warnings over three years to regularize their building papers.
The government claims the demolitions were necessary for development and that the structures were distressed and unsafe.
Residents, however, accuse officials of a land-grabbing scheme and say they were not given adequate time.
