Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has distributed over 2,000 bags of rice and other relief items to constituents in all five local government areas of the district as part of her Christmas outreach initiative.
The distribution, carried out simultaneously in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okene, Okehi, and Ogori-Magongo, was designed to alleviate the impact of rising food prices and ensure that families can celebrate the festive season with dignity, according to a statement released Wednesday by her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko.
Speaking during the outreach, Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized the importance of leadership that delivers tangible benefits to the people.
“Christmas is a season of love, sacrifice, and shared joy. At a time when many households are struggling with the cost of living, it is important that we stand with our people in practical ways,” she said. “This rice distribution ensures that families across Kogi Central can celebrate without hardship.”
The 25kg bags of rice were distributed across community groups, women’s associations, youth organizations, religious bodies, the elderly, and other vulnerable residents. Community leaders who supervised the exercise described it as one of the largest Christmas rice distributions ever seen in the district.
“This is not symbolic support; it is real and far-reaching. The quantity and reach of this distribution show genuine concern for the grassroots,” a traditional leader in Okene remarked.
The Christmas outreach adds to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s growing record of constituency interventions, including healthcare programs, educational support, solar-powered infrastructure, water projects, and initiatives for women and youth empowerment across Kogi Central.
Addressing beneficiaries in Okehi, the senator reaffirmed her commitment to service-driven representation.
“My responsibility goes beyond the Senate chamber. Representation means being present, listening to the people, and responding with actions that improve daily life,” she stated.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, describing the gesture as timely, compassionate, and reflective of people-centered leadership.
The development comes shortly after Senate President Godswill Akpabio approached the Supreme Court over a legal dispute arising from Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension. Court documents dated December 1, 2025, revealed that the Federal Government’s brief in the appeal linked to her suspension had been struck out by the Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, for failing to comply with procedural and formatting rules.
