A major upgrade in legislative communication has been unveiled as the National Assembly introduced a new digital newsroom to improve coverage and documentation of parliamentary activities.
The facility, equipped with modern monitoring and reporting systems, is designed to support real-time updates from both chambers, enhance record-keeping, and strengthen public access to accurate information about legislative proceedings.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, described the project as a strategic investment aimed at improving information management and institutional efficiency. He said the newsroom would help project the work of the legislature with greater professionalism and transparency.
Officials from the Research and Information Directorate explained that the platform will serve as a central hub for tracking debates, motions, resolutions and oversight functions, ensuring timely dissemination of verified reports.
They added that the initiative will also help combat misinformation and build public trust by providing reliable updates directly from official legislative sources.
The National Assembly said the development reflects its broader commitment to innovation, accountability and stronger engagement with the public.
