Solomon Babanjah, the Chairman of Nasarawa United, recently shared his bittersweet reflections regarding the exit of star attacker Anas Yusuf. The club executive celebrated the immense talent of Yusuf, noting that the forward played a pivotal role in the numerous triumphs achieved by the Solid Miners during his tenure. Yusuf notably elevated his profile last season by securing the prestigious Nigeria Premier Football League Golden Boot. Following these individual accolades, the prolific striker finalized a transfer to the Algerian outfit JS Saoura just last week.
The Nasarawa United leadership unsuccessfully attempted to retain the forward’s services through the remainder of the current campaign. Babanjah acknowledged that while the club prioritized keeping their talisman, they ultimately prioritized the player’s professional growth and international aspirations. The Chairman expressed confidence in Yusuf’s choice of JS Saoura, viewing the move as a logical step for his ongoing footballing evolution. Despite his departure, the club management intends to maintain a lasting bond with their former top scorer.
Babanjah spoke candidly to the team’s official media department about the transition and the void Yusuf leaves behind:
“Even though we are greatly proud of the incredible contributions he has given to our team, particularly his legendary goalscoring ability and unmatched team spirit, we will sorely miss him. As a team, we did all we could to keep him till the end of the present season, but we realized that he needed to push his career forward, and we are glad that he chose the right destination to continue his development. We wish him all the best in his new club, and I want to assure him that he remains an integral part of our Club.”
