Rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has voiced concerns about the growing influence of cultism within the Nigerian music industry.
In a post on X, the singer lamented that only a handful of artists, including himself, have not joined cults, highlighting what he described as a troubling trend among some music professionals.
Marley mocked artists who join cults in pursuit of power or protection, pointing out the irony that even those who recruit others often rely on police escorts for their own security.
He wrote, “We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”
The rapper has previously denied claims linking him to any cult, stating that he was once threatened by cultists for refusing to join. His comments have reignited conversations online about the influence of secret societies and the pressures facing young artists in the Nigerian music scene.
By speaking out, Naira Marley has drawn attention to the need for awareness and caution among emerging artists navigating the industry’s complex and sometimes dangerous networks.
