The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under the joint task force Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another major operational success following a coordinated air interdiction against a terrorist enclave in Abbaga Jiri, located within the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was carried out after multi-source intelligence confirmed the presence of active terrorists, fortified structures, and concealed logistics facilities in the area.
Based on the intelligence, NAF air assets were deployed in an integrated operation involving advanced surveillance and precision strike missions to engage clearly identified targets.
“The operation was deliberately designed to degrade terrorist capability, deny them sanctuary, and shape the battlespace in support of ground forces, while strictly adhering to established rules of engagement and ensuring the protection of non-combatants,” the statement said.
Commenting on the success of the mission, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, said the outcome underscored the Air Force’s determination to maintain air superiority in support of joint military operations.
“This operation reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering precise and decisive airpower in support of ground troops. We will continue to deny terrorists freedom of movement, safe havens, and access to logistics wherever they attempt to hide,” Aneke said.
He explained that identified terrorist structures were decisively struck and destroyed, effectively crippling their operational capacity. A follow-up engagement, he added, neutralised armed elements seen converging on the location after the initial strikes.
According to the CAS, subsequent advances by ground forces into the area confirmed the effectiveness of the air strikes and validated the overall success of the joint air–land operation.
Reaffirming the NAF’s operational posture, Air Marshal Aneke stressed that air operations would remain relentless, intelligence-driven, and focused on protecting civilians.
“Our missions are carefully planned and guided by credible intelligence to ensure maximum impact on hostile elements while safeguarding innocent lives. The Nigerian Air Force will sustain pressure until terrorist networks are completely dismantled,” he added.
