The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its C-130 aircraft, which earlier carried out a precautionary landing during a ferry flight, has safely continued its journey and landed in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia.
The aircraft proceeded to Banjul after transiting Accra, in line with an updated flight plan that includes routing through Casablanca before final arrival in Portugal for scheduled depot maintenance.
In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information of the Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, explained that ferry flights for aircraft earmarked for maintenance are conducted strictly through designated airfields.
Ejodame noted that such movements are carefully planned and appropriately spaced in accordance with established aviation safety procedures.
According to the statement, all personnel on board are safe and the aircraft remains fully serviceable.
The Nigerian Air Force expressed appreciation to the authorities in Ghana, The Gambia, and other countries overflown for the cooperation and support extended to the crew during the flight.
It also acknowledged the concern and goodwill shown by Nigerians following reports of the precautionary landing.
The NAF reassured the public of its continued commitment to the highest standards of safety and professionalism in all its operations.
