Veteran Nigerian rapper Naetochukwu Chikwe, popularly known as Naeto C, has spoken candidly about his decision to step back from music, describing it as a deliberate choice shaped by family life and long-term personal goals.
Speaking during a recent interview on BEAT FM, the 10/10 hitmaker said his outlook on the future prompted him to reconsider what kind of life he wanted to build beyond the music industry.
Naeto C explained that key life milestones influenced his decision. He got married in 2012 and welcomed his first child the following year, developments that forced him to reassess his priorities at the time.
Looking back, he said he was unsure he would achieve the lifestyle he envisioned if he continued to focus fully on music. According to him, the decision was not driven by a lack of passion but by a desire for stability and balance.
The rapper also noted that his journey into music was largely organic. He said he never set out with the sole ambition of becoming a professional musician, but rather pursued music because of his deep love for it and the positive reception his songs received.
Despite being away from the studio for years, Naeto C revealed that the pull of music has never fully disappeared. He shared that each time he considers returning to recording, unexpected life events tend to intervene, leaving him conflicted about whether to pursue a comeback.
He added that encounters with fans continue to remind him of the impact his music had, as people regularly tell him how much they miss his sound and what his songs meant to them.
Naeto C’s reflections offer insight into the often-unseen personal choices behind life away from the spotlight, highlighting how family, purpose and timing can shape the paths of even the most celebrated artists.
