Multiple explosions have struck parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, leaving several people feared dead and many others injured.
Eyewitnesses say one of the blasts occurred at the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital shortly before Muslim faithful broke their Ramadan fast.
Another explosion was reported near the Maiduguri Monday Market, one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs.
The exact number of casualties remains unclear but several people are feared dead, and many others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured have been evacuated to the Borno State Specialist Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks but many suspect it could be trrrorist groups Boko Haram or ISWAP. Both groups have in recent weeks carried series of attacks in Borno State. Many of the attacks had targeted military formations.
One of Monday’s attacks was suspected to have be carried out by a suicide bomber.
