Pan-African film and television training institution, MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), has officially opened applications for its 2026 intake, inviting emerging African filmmakers, directors, producers, scriptwriters, and storytellers to join its fully funded, industry-accredited programme.
According to MultiChoice, the initiative is part of the CANAL+ ecosystem and aims to empower young creatives with the technical, creative, and business skills necessary to thrive in the global film and television industry.
The nine-month programme blends theoretical learning with practical experience, using a hybrid model of online sessions and intensive in-person training. Participants gain hands-on exposure to real-world production environments, mentorship from world-class facilitators, and access to professional networks across the continent.
MTF operates academies in Nigeria, Kenya, and Zambia, serving participants from 14 African countries. Since its inception in 2018, the programme has trained 296 filmmakers, with graduates producing over 42 films during the training period. Completed projects are broadcast on DStv and GOtv channels, including Maisha Magic, Zambezi Magic, and Africa Magic, as well as the streaming platform Showmax.
Alumni of MTF have made notable contributions to Africa’s film and television sector, securing roles within MultiChoice, participating in major productions, or establishing independent production companies—over 50 have been founded by graduates. The programme’s focus on authentic African storytelling has earned alumni nominations and awards at platforms such as the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, Kalasha Awards, Uganda Film Festival, and Women in Film Awards.
Through skills development and industry access, MTF continues to nurture a new generation of filmmakers capable of competing globally while telling stories rooted in African experiences. Graduates are not only advancing creative innovation but also driving economic growth and cultural representation across the continent.
Applications for the 2026 intake are now open to eligible African creatives eager to shape the future of storytelling.
