Nigerian comedian and actor Mr. Jollof has voiced strong outrage over the alleged assault and harassment of women during a festival in Ozoro, Delta State.
Taking to Instagram, the entertainer described the incident as “barbaric,” expressing disappointment that such actions could occur in 2026, particularly during a period dedicated to celebrating women globally.
He said the development was troubling, especially as it coincided with observances like International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, which highlight respect and appreciation for women.
Mr. Jollof also raised concerns about safety in the area, questioning how parents could feel comfortable sending their daughters to school in Ozoro if such incidents are allowed to happen.
He called on the Delta State Government to respond promptly and ensure that those responsible are held accountable, stressing the need for justice and stronger protections for women.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspects linked to the incident, including the festival organiser, Chief Omorede Sunday.
The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, condemned the acts, describing them as criminal and a serious violation of human rights. Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, with growing calls for stricter enforcement of safety measures at public events and stronger safeguards to protect women across communities.
