Department of Health Director-General Dr Sandile Buthelezi has been placed on precautionary suspension by Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.
Motsoaledi also suspended Deputy Director General of Tertiary Health and Hospital Services, Dr Malixole Percival Mahlati, and Chief Financial Officer, Phineas Phaswa Mamogale.
This comes after the trio was apprehended for fraud and theft in connection with the allegedly irregular appointment of two service providers at the department.
